"Oh that's nice. So now cheating on your husband makes you a feminist?"

Little Children (2006)
Directed by Todd Field, rated R, 130 minutes

Little Children is a very clever and biting drama about the intersecting lives of two lonely married people who start an extremely close relationship, a registered sex offender and a bitter ex-cop. The acting all around is impressive, but Jackie Earle Haley resurrected his career with his unsettling and deeply troubled performance. The film brutally tackles the faux-politeness and unsatisfied side of suburban life in both funny and painful ways. But, Little Children's greatest strength is its realistic and likable characters, who are presented in a non-judgmental and uncompromising way. You'll like it if: You like family dramas, suburban dysfunction films, Kate Winslet, Happiness, Lawn Dogs or American Beauty.
