"The last thing on his mind is murder."

The Man Who Wasn't There (2001)
Directed by Joel Coen, rated R, 116 minutes

The Man Who Wasn't There is subtly funny and authentic neo-noir film about a quiet barber who blackmails his wife's boss and lover to get money to invest in the man that came up with dry cleaning, but his plans don't work out the way they're supposed to. Billy Bob Thorton delivers a relatable and likable character, caught up in a wildly interesting noir plot. The Coen brothers always deliver great dialogue and characters, and cinematography is mind blowing and perfectly noir. The Man Who Wasn't There has flashes of Hitchcock, with a slow but tense pace and incredible visuals. You'll like it if: You like film noir, crime films, the Coen brothers' films, Strangers on a Train, The Maltese Falcon or Fargo.

  1. The Man Who Wasn't There is an excellent film. A throwback to the noir classics of the forties and fifties. I loved it.
