Assault on Precinct 13 is brutally dark and tense thriller about the few remaining cops in a closing police station who are forced to deal with some diverted prisoners, when a hellbent group of gang members take siege on the precinct. The story is a classic siege plot, but the characters are memorable and likable, and it's executed in a gritty and uncompromising way. Director John Carpenter effortlessly builds a creepy mood, with an eerie score, stark cinematography and a story with no limits on where it's willing to go. Assault on Precinct 13 is an influential action film that perfectly mixes in horror elements making a suspenseful and captivating siege film.
