Paranormal Activity is a creepy and effective low budget, faux-documentary horror film about a couple who, after moving into a new suburban home, believe they are being haunted by a demonic presence. The plot is a little thin, but the characters are competently acted and relatable enough that you get scared along with them. Despite its (at most) $11,000 budget, all the effects are completely convincing, and its small budget only makes everything feel more real. Paranormal Activity may start slow and does hit a few bumps along the way, but it has several extremely scary moments that are unforgettably horrifying. You'll like it if: You like POV horror films, ghost stories, low budget horror films, The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield or [Rec].
