The Way of the Gun (2000)
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, rated R, 119 minutes

The Way of the Gun is a witty and ridiculously entertaining crime thriller about a pair of drifting, small-time criminals who kidnap and hold for ransom a very pregnant surrogate mother for a rich and powerful man. Ryan Phillippe and Benicio del Toro are both absolutely hilarious as they play off each other in the lead roles, and they were blessed with some terrific dialogue. The shootouts in the film are perhaps the best ever made, as they manage to be both realistic and preposterously thrilling. The Way of the Gun's only flaw is that it drags a bit in the middle, but the film hits every other mark, with a suspenseful story, cool characters, funny dialogue and impressive action scenes. You'll like it if: You like crime films, shootouts, snappy dialogue, The Usual Suspects, Memento or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
