"Do you know that people are talking about you?"

Show Me Love (1998)
Directed by Lukas Moodysson, unrated, 89 minutes

Show Me Love is an honest and beautiful Swedish romantic dramedy about Agnes, a lonely and depressed girl, who's secretly, madly in love with the popular, but also depressed Elin. Both of the lead performances are incredibly real and believable, creating two distinct characters you can't help but root for. Though the film is depressingly real and bleak at times, there are plenty of sweet and funny moments, and the ending is brilliant and exhilarating. Show Me Love is in someways distinctly Swedish, but the story could play out in any American high school, as it encapsulates all the feelings of being a teenager, and the themes are relevant to anyone. You'll like it if: You like teen dramedies, coming-of-age films, romantic comedies, The Breakfast Club or Ghost World.
