"I can't tell you how sick I am..."

Big Fan (2009)
Directed by Robert Siegel, rated R, 86 minutes

Big Fan is a painfully funny and crushingly realistic independent film about a diehard New York Giants fan who's life starts to fall apart after he's beaten up by his favorite Giants player. Patton Oswalt perfectly captures the down and out, but unquestionably devoted fan, who is easy to sympathize with (and sometimes laugh at). The story has some pacing issues, but doesn't get boring thanks to the hilarious dialogue and surprisingly tense third act. Big Fan is a bold and satirical dark comedy, anchored by Oswalt's amazing performance, and filled with rich characters and clever dialogue. You'll like it if: You like loser protagonists, 70's style character studies, Patton Oswalt, The Wrestler, Taxi Driver or The King of Comedy.
