"The blinds moving up and down...the squeaking shoes...and then the knife whistling past her ear..."

Wait Until Dark (1967)
Directed by Terence Young, not rated, 108 minutes

Wait Until Dark is a preposterously suspenseful and nerve wracking film about blind woman who is terrorized by three thugs that believe a doll stuffed with heroin is in her apartment. Audrey Hepburn adds another tremendous performance to her career in this sympathetic and movingly defiant part. The film takes place entirely in one apartment, but doesn't have a dull moment in it, as the tension builds and builds. Wait Until Dark takes suspense to a new level, and the last twenty minutes are an unrelenting gauntlet that matches any horror film. You'll like it if: You like suspense thrillers, Hitchcockian thrillers, Audrey Hepburn, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window or Gaslight.
