District 9 is an original and smart sci-fi film about a government agent trying to deal with a large group of extraterrestrials that live in slum conditions on Earth, who gets exposed to their biotechnology. Shartlo Copely, in his first role, is simply incredible and completely believable as the hard to like, but definitely relatable lead. The style of the film, which mixes in some faux-documentary footage, creates an vivid and intriguing world, and the plot cleverly builds to a stunning climax.
District 9 isn't just another blockbuster sci-fi flick, it's a heartfelt, intelligent and exhilarating film that will blow you away. You'll like it if: You like sci-fi action movies, mockumentaries, movies with aliens, Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead or [Rec].
