"The fate of the world is on the line."

In the Loop (2009)
Directed by Armando Iannucci, not rated, 106 minutes

In the Loop is a ludicrously funny political comedy about a bunch of bureaucrats and diplomats who battle over whether or not to go to war. The characters are all cleverly written, including Tom Hollander as a bumbling British minister who can't keep himself out of trouble and Peter Capaldi as a hawkish bureaucrat who unleashes a slew of hilariously vulgar tirades. The dialogue is some of the funniest you'll ever hear, and the story, though not a typical narrative, is genuinely interesting and parallels some current events. In the Loop is fast-paced and endlessly funny - probably the best political satire in years. You'll like it if: You like political satires, dialogue heavy comedies, British humor, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb or Thank You for Smoking.
