"The only criminal he can't catch is himself."

The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (2009)
Directed by Werner Herzog, rated R, 122 minutes

The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans is a ridiculous and over the top crime comedy about a drug and gambling addicted detective investigating a mass murder in a post-Katrina New Orleans. Nicolas Cage is given a hilariously unhinged character, and he doesn't hold back at all, offering a wonderfully maniacal performance. The story builds upon itself getting more and more out of control, and director Werner Herzog creates a frantic and eerie atmosphere. It's refreshing to see a film really go for it without reservations, and Bad Lieutenant is a one of a kind, weird and darkly funny film. You'll like it if: You like surreal comedies, crime comedies, Nicolas Cage chewing scenery, Bad Lieutenant, Wonderland or Pulp Fiction.
