5. Final Destination (2000) Directed by James Wong, rated R, 98 minutes
Final Destination is an original and frightening film that takes a fresh look at the slasher genre. The film is about a teen who has a vision that the plane he's on is going to blow up, so he and a few of his classmates get off. But, when the plane really does blow up, he's treated like a freak, and his classmates start dying. Final Destination is filled with suspenseful scenes, and it will suck you in until its fantastic ending. You'll like it if: You like Ali Larter, The X-files or Halloween.

4. Night of the Living Dead (1968) Directed by George A. Romero, unrated, 96 minutes
Night of the Living Dead is the film that created the modern zombie, and is still regarded as one of the best zombie, and best horror films of all time. The film is about group of people who must hideout together in a farmhouse during the beginning of a zombie outbreak. The realistic acting and the tense interactions of the people in the farmhouse are what make this film so suspenseful and satisfying. Night of the Living Dead is a classic horror masterpiece, that entertains till the incredible ending. You'll like it if: You like zombie movies, low budget movies or siege movies.

3. Session 9 (2001) Directed by Brad Anderson, rated R, 100 minutes
Session 9 is horror film that's well known in the "horror community" but not really to anyone else, however it's a truly unsettling and creepy film. The film is about an asbestos cleaning crew sent to clean up an abandoned mental hospital, which has a horrific past. The film is unpredictable and subtly builds towards one of the most disturbing climaxes around. Session 9 is a can't miss horror film that won't disappoint. You'll like it if: You like supernatural horror, creepy locales or Identity.

2. Repulsion (1965) Directed by Roman Polanski, unrated, 105 minutes
Repulsion is the quintessential psychological thriller and a true masterpiece. Repulsion is about a young virgin who's left at home alone by her sister and begins to have bizarre, surreal and disturbing fantasies. The film is a bit slow at the beginning, but the atmosphere builds and builds creating a tense and anxious feel. Director Roman Polanski is a master at creating an extremely frightening mood through odd angles, fantastic lighting and weird images. Repulsion will mess with your head and leave deeply unsettled. You'll like it if: You like psychological thrillers, Rosemary's Baby or Pi.

1. The Blair Witch Project (1999) Directed by Daniel Myrick & Eduardo Sanchez, rated R, 86 minutes
The Blair Witch Project is a brilliant, suspenseful and immensely scary film about some footage found from 1994, of a few film student's journey into the woods to make a documentary about the Blair Witch, from which the students never returned. The film's exceptionally realistic style gives the film a more disturbing feel than most other horror films. The acting is naturalistic, and the story is truly unnerving. The Blair Witch Project is a disturbing and suspenseful film that will make you never want to go camping again. You'll like it if: You like mockumentaries, indie movies, or Cloverfield.
