A Groundbreaking Dark Comedy

Fight Club (1999)
Directed by David Fincher, rated R, 139 minutes

Fight Club
has a somewhat misleading title that sadly pushes away the mature audience the film deserves, as Fight Club is less about brutal violence as it is about philosophy and dark humor. The film is about an insomniac office worker who has a chance encounter with a bizarre soap salesman, and they end up starting a fight club, which leads to bigger things. Ed Norton does an unbelievable job as the office worker: he's lovable, pitiful and his narration is perfection. Brad Pitt perfectly and unforgettably plays the soap salesman, in a part he was born to play. Director David Fincher delivers in every way, as Fight Club is one of the most visually exciting films around, and the writing will keep you guessing, laughing and interested till the brilliant ending. Fight Club is a one-of-a-kind experience that aptly mixes black comedy with social commentary. You'll like it if: You like dark movies, 90's cinema, Brad Pitt, Seven, American Psycho or A Clockwork Orange.
