Directed by Kelly Reichardt, rate R, 80 minutes
Wendy and Lucy is a bleak and uncommonly moving indie film about a woman and her sole companion, her dog, who are on their way to Alaska. But, she's derailed when her car breaks down and she loses her dog. Michelle gives a fantastic performance and despite playing a somewhat unlikeable character, you can't help but feel for her. The story is about people on the fringe of society, and her way of life is harrowing to say the least. Wendy and Lucy is a sad and tragically real film, that you can't help but get caught up in. You'll like it if: You like dogs movies, indie movies, Gerry or Simon Birch.
