Best in Show is hysterical film about an array of eccentric people competing in a national dog show. The film works because every character seems real, and their awesome, mostly improvised dialogue. Fred Willard is especially hilarious as the inappropriate announcer. Best in Show is another in a long line of hilarious mockumentaries by writer-director Christopher Guest. You'll like it if: You like movies about dogs, Fred Willard or A Mighty Wind.
4. Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006) Directed by Scott Glosserman rated R, 92 minutes
Behind the Mask is a dark and funny film about a documentary crew following an up and coming psycho slasher as he prepares for his spree. The film gets a ton a of laughs out of making fun of the plethora of horror and slasher cliches, and the film's bitter wit and laugh out loud dialogue keep the film from becoming too horrific. Behind the Mask is a twisted and very clever film that every horror fan will love. You'll like it if: You like horror-comedies, slashers or Scream.
3. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) Directed by Larry Charles rated R, 84 minutes
Borat is a ridiculously hilarious and extremely entertaining film about a Kazakh TV reporter who travels to America to report on American society and culture. Borat is different from the other mockumentaries on this because in this film Borat interacts with real people, not actors, which causes many awkwardly funny moments. Sascha Baron Cohen is pitch perfect as Borat, and is infinitely quotable. Borat is an endlessly funny and consistently cringe-inducing farce that is guaranteed to entertain. You'll like it if: You like raunchy comedies, The Daily Show or Da Ali G Show.
2. Zelig (1983) Directed by Woody Allen, rated PG, 79 minutes
Zelig is a technical masterpiece and a very dryly humorous film about a man who lived in the 20's and 30's, who can look and act like whoever he's around. For instance: When he's around doctors he believes and acts like he's a doctor. Woody Allen's dialogue never disappoints, but it's the amazingly realistic footage of Zelig back in the 20's and 30's that's really astonishing. Zelig is fast paced and brilliantly made film, with a great message. You like it if: You like innovative movies, Woody Allen or Take the Money and Run.
1. This is Spinal Tap (1984) Directed by Rob Reiner, rated R, 82 minutes
This is Spinal Tap is the quintessential mockumentary, and with good reason: it's incredibly funny. The film chronicles the fateful tour of the fading British band Spinal Tap. Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer fade into their roles masterfully, and their deadpan delivery of the most preposterous lines is sure to make you laugh. The music is surprisingly well written and the "live" concert scenes are immensely entertaining. This is Spinal Tap is the Citizen Kane of mockumentaries, and that's not an exaggeration. You'll like it if: You like movies about music, Wating for Guffman or The Rutles: All You Need is Cash.
Loved "Best in Show." Great acting. Love your blog. You are doing a great job. Have you seen "The Visitor?" Great movie. Interesting story. I'm curious what you think.

I thought The Visitor was pretty good. The message was a little heavy handed, but the story was really moving and Richard Jenkins was incredible.
