Directed by David Gordon Green, rated R, 107 minutes
Snow Angels is a dark but powerful indie film about the lives of a few people in a small town. The plot of Snow Angels is basically your typical indie plot, however the film is a head above the rest because of it's realistic performances and intelligent writing. Sam Rockwell is flawless as an estranged husband who desperately tries to be a good father and Michael Angarano gives a touching performance as a teenager who falls in love for the first time. Though Snow Angels has some very dark and depressing moments, the film doesn't become too sad because it contains a truly beautiful and honest love story. And, that kind of variation is what makes Snow Angels such a moving and fascinating film. You like it if: You like movies about small towns, indie movies, Gus Van Sant's films, The Wrestler or The Kite Runner.
