Directed by Terry Gilliam, rated R, 118 minutes
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a bizarre and hysterical cult classic based on Hunter S. Thompson's novel about his exaggerated story of debauchery and excess during an assignment in Las Vegas. Johnny Depp deftly manages to capture the freewheeling and borderline insane antics of Thompson. Director Terry Gilliam succeeds in making a film that makes you feel like you're on LSD, and prevails in producing a film that works despite a thin plot. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a one of a kind film that's never dull. You like it if: You like weird movies, movies about drugs, Johnny Depp, Brazil, A Scanner Darkly or Requiem for a Dream.
