Directed by Milos Forman, rated R, 129 minutes
The People vs. Larry Flint is a somewhat true and wonderfully subversive comedy about the rise of Larry Flint, from porn king to defender of the first amendment. Woody Harrelson is spot-on as Larry Flint, and is even able to make you feel sympathy for the painfully obnoxious and morally objectionable publisher. The court room scenes are hilariously shocking, especially since they are based on true events. The People vs. Larry Flint is a fantastically acted and well-paced film, that may even have you rooting for Larry Flint by the end. You'll like it if: You like biographical movies, courtroom dramas, Woody Harrelson, Amadeus or The Rainmaker.
For me, Courtney Love is the downfall of this film, for certain.
