"This is the Weekend They Didn't Play Golf"

Deliverance (1972)
Directed by John Boorman, rated R, 110 minutes

Deliverance has become infamous for its off putting subject that extinguishes many people's desire to see it, but Deliverance is a tense and exceedingly well made film. Deliverance is about an outdoorsman who takes a few of his city friends on a canoe trip down south, which leads to shocking and disturbing interactions with the locals. Burt Reynolds offers probably the most subtle and honest performance of his career, and the rest of the cast is spot-on as well. Deliverance is a chilling and masterfully made thriller, that puts you in the shoes of people who experience something you'd truly never want to experience. You'll like it if: You like 70's cinema, dark movies, Into the Wild or Night of the Living Dead.

  1. The book was amazing too. It was hard to get through the 70's without seeing this.
