An Atmospheric and Thrilling Crime Film

Le Samourai (1967)
Directed by Pierre Melville, rated PG, 105 minutes

Le Samourai is the epitome of cool and few films can rival it's subtle brilliance. The film is about a meticulous and aloof contract killer who never makes a mistake, until someone witnesses his hit on a club owner. Alain Delon is flawless as the stoic killer, creating a powerful mood and deeply interesting character. The story is terrifically entertaining, as everything about this friendless killer is fascinating. But, it's the amazing direction that puts this film above the rest, by creating a utterly brooding atmosphere. Le Samourai is an exciting and fascinating French neo-noir thriller with perfect pacing and a fantastic ending. You'll like it if: You like film noir, foreign crime movies, minimalistic movies, No Country for Old Men or Dead Man.
