A Smart and Subtle Comedy

Thank You For Smoking (2005)
Directed by Jason Reitman, rated R, 92 minutes

Thank You For Smoking is a lovably fun and smart indie satire about a big tobacco spokesman who spins the truth about cigarettes while trying to remain a role model for his son. Aaron Eckhart is perfect as the spokesman capturing the likable qualities as well as the smarmy ones, creating a conflicted but appealing character. The story is entertaining and the writing is top notch, with razor sharp wit and a lot of subtle, dark humor. Thank You for Smoking is a refreshingly honest and untamed comedy with an engrossing story and endless laughs. You'll like it if: You like indie comedies, satirical movies, Aaron Eckhart, Election, In Bruges or American Beauty.
