An Intricate and Involving Courtroom Drama

Primal Fear (1996)
Directed by Gregory Hoblit, rated R, 129 minutes

Primal Fear is a smart, quick and sizzling courtroom drama about a high-powered, pompous lawyer who takes the case of a young altar boy accused of murdering the Bishop who took him in off the streets. Richard Gere reinvigorated his career with his lovable, though repugnant, character, but it's Edward Norton, in his first role, who is absolutely amazing and unforgettable. The story is twisted and is always getting more complicated. Plus, the end is truly incredible and will last with you for a long time. Primal Fear is an absorbing and unpredictable film, with incredible acting and terrific writing. You'll like it if: You like courtroom dramas, 90's cinema, Edward Norton, Presumed Innocent, Fracture, or The Score.
